Ignacio Youth Services is hiring for our after school program called Project Venture. The program provides opportunities for youth to connect outdoor wilderness activities to real-life issues they may be facing. We foster resiliency, build positive connections, and inspire youth to test their boundaries in a healthy way. We provide a safe space for youth to challenge their comfort zones and realize their full potential. We need your help delivering these adventures to our youth.
Two positions are currently open:
Project Venture Program Assistant: Part time; 24 hrs per week
Project Venture Program Coordinator: Full time; 32 hrs per week
You will assist in facilitating an outdoor adventure after school program for middle and high school age youth. You must follow the curriculum, work with Ignacio school district and other youth-serving prevention-based organizations. Plan and lead activities and reflection, recruit youth participants, communicate with parents, teachers, and other organizations, supervise events including overnights. Collect surveys and report data regarding attendance, behavior, perceptions, and achievements of participating youth. Represent Ignacio Youth Services through positive lifestyles and act as a role model to local youth.
Must enjoy camping and nature. Must have wilderness skills and experience in outdoor recreation (i.e. hiking, bouldering, climbing, rafting, etc.)
Must have a passion for youth and experience working with them
Must have a high school diploma or GED
Must have a valid CO driver’s license
Training will be provided
